Fibre extra, still no joy after BT engineer visit???????

Hi. My fibre extra is downloading 43max and up at 15 max. Im on 80/20. Had BT engineer out yesterday all lines checked out as excellent, he reckoned i should get a good 70 down. 130 meter from box/cabinet. He tried a different port(?) in cabinet with no joy. He said it was probably what i was stuck with for some reason? Problem is when i upgraded to fibre extra i was getting 74/75 down for a couple of hours then it plummeted to the 43 which i cant get above. My connection was up and down erratically for that couple of hours. Is that the best i can get and will changing provider make any difference?
Thanks for any help!!! Grin

Re: Fibre extra, still no joy after BT engineer visit???????

Hi Adam. Thanks for your assistance  :). I was wondering..... I am downloading at around 50meg at the minute and uploading at around 10 meg at the same time, i thought that if the download speed was maxxed out than my upload speed should be low?

If you're maxing out your upload, then it can affect your download speed. Try stopping any other uploads and try a speedtest again.

Re: Fibre extra, still no joy after BT engineer visit???????

Thanks Chris. If i minimise upload download stays steady at 50mb. Had BT out again, last time it was possible interference from neighbours, this time its distance from cabinet. Why do the estimates using my phone number on BT wholesale say i can get 76meg yet i cant?
BT said distance from cabinet 400 metres. I got 220 metres.
Both engineers said line quality is excellent.
What does syncing do as when syncing they said it didnt show as syncing on my home side?
Questions questions questions!
Thanks for your help.

Re: Fibre extra, still no joy after BT engineer visit???????

Hey Moon,
I have had this EXACT same issue.  I used to do 80 down with NO problem at all, then around Christmas time Drop down to 50.  Have had 2 visits by Openreach Engineers, the line is reporting 80/20 available, multiple modems.
Currently 49 down 11 Up..  There is something seriously going on here.

Ask PN to check your WP profile. Same issue as me and it was a profile setting that had me on lower speeds
