Fibre connection down already

Hi,
I've only been on FTTC for a few months, but already it has failed. The DSL light is out on the modem. I'm waiting  for an engineer appointment to be arranged.
Is it worth borrowing a modem from elsewhere and testing that out? Are these modems reliable? I can't see what else could be wrong that might require the engineer to visit my home.
Any advice is much welcome.

Ask you neighbours if they or anybody else near you is also having problems either right now of very recently?
Open up the filtered faceplate and connect your modem to the master socket to rule out the problem being due to the internal phone wiring in your house.
Yes it is worth trying a different modem, it is not likely to be the problem, but it should be ruled out.

Is the DSL light not flashing at all? It should be lit and stable when connected but flashing while attempting to connect which is should retry every few minutes if it fails.

No, it never flashes at all. Permanently OFF.

Hi.
The ticket status says the fault is back "in testing". Not sure what that means.
How much notice will I get if an appointment is booked? I have heard nothing as of yet, and will need to arrange to come out of work early.

It's been confirmed for tomorrow afternoon between 1pm and 6pm.

Engineer has gone, but still no Broadband. DSL light is most definitely still OFF.
Very disappointing. Apparently, it should sync within 20 minutes, but he was on site for 2 hours.

He's not passed the job back and he's raised a task from what I can see as the spare ports in the cabinet are faulty.
