Fibre activation

My fibre was supposed to be activated today by open reach, but I've not heard anything and my speed is still adsl speed. Does anyone know when this is likely to switch over.

It appeared that I needed to reboot my router, which I did and now have fibre speeds. The speed however is not what I expected. I was told I would get between 38-40 Mbits/s but I seems to only getting around 31. Am i right in thinking that the speed will slowly ramp up over time?
