Fibre Upload Speed

HI, just signed up to unlimited fibre and shocked to find an upload speed of only 1.72mbps -this should be much better on fibre? What can I do to improve this?

Thanks

Re: Fibre Upload Speed

Good Afternoon,

Looking at your account you are on the Unlimited Fibre package which has an up to 40Mb download speed and 2Mb upload speed, the slow uploads with these pictures could possibly be due to the pictures being of higher quality, do you have the file sizes available?

Re: Fibre Upload Speed

HI, the photos are 6.38mb -nothing special size wise. The reason I left my slow TALKTalk service was I expected better upload speeds on fibre compared to normal. I'm seeing no difference whatsoever.

What package do I need to have an improvement or can this be improved -I dont think I'm even getting the 2mgb speed

Re: Fibre Upload Speed

I don't think I've ever seen a post why the 10Mbps upload cap was reduced to 2Mbps on new contracts.

Who has set this restriction - BT ?

These days lot's of people store photos in the cloud and with modern digital cameras producing 2Mb+ images this upload cap is ridiculous.

Let's be careful out there !

Re: Fibre Upload Speed

The restriction is Plusnets not BT's when they reduced it they said it was to match Talk Talk who they were trying to compete with Roll_eyes Talk Talk at the time also only offered 2Mb upload they since changed that to 10Mb like everyone else yet Plusnet has refused to join in no idea why.

Re: Fibre Upload Speed

The increase from 2 to 10 upload would cost PN £1 extra ,, they just dont want to pay for it

Re: Fibre Upload Speed

I uploaded 3 dashcam .mov files to Dropbox yesterday.

The 3 files, uploaded simultaneously, total = 678Mb took just under half an hour.

That half an hour would be an hour with a 2Mbps cap presumably.

Let's be careful out there !
