Re: Fibre - Speed Issues - Lack of Understanding by PN

BT Openreach have been today and did stirling work to find fault with bad cabling in road and pole.

Right now, it is 54mb and I understand it will fluctuate over the next 7-10 days and then go up and up to an improved and steady 65mb.

When would you like to reset the line and settings at your end to see the maximum possible?

Re: Fibre - Speed Issues - Lack of Understanding by PN

Fantastic news, however it looks like your sync speed has dropped back. Sad

Sync Status In Sync
Downstream Speed 51.9 Mbps
Upstream Speed 20.0 Mbps

Unfortunately to further investigate this we're going to need to arrange another broadband engineer visit.

I've updated your ticket.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

Yes, it's been dropping out all night and at 8am this morning.

I am trying my best to keep 6 people in the house calm, but needless to say we have an atmosphere here that along with the heat, is pushing everyone's patience.

I shall have the chilled water ready for the engineer!

Thanks for your response,

The appointment is booked in for Thursday AM. The chilled water is sure to help the engineer in this hot weather.

Let us know how the visit goes.

Re: Fibre - Speed Issues - Lack of Understanding by PN

BT Openreach engineer has been and made more tweaks to the cabinet in the road.

Hopefully, this will be the final fix.

We have now had 3 different engineers who have all found issues and fixed them. To be fair, they have been on time, courteous, knowledgeable and explained what they were doing.

Please do not touch the settings at your end until 7 or days have passed. The local LOOSE exchange has been going mental with our ups and downs and now needs time to settle.

My fingers, toes and anything else I have are crossed.

Paul

PS - all 3 of them were offered food and drink but none of them took it. They explained that they have company issued bottles of water and are not advised to accept drinks from customers... I guess this is just in case we make them ill..!

Re: Fibre - Speed Issues - Lack of Understanding by PN

Alas, all is not well yet again.

Yesterday, the 4th BT Openreach engineer came round and my sorry tale was told to him.

He did some testing and agreed that there is a 'battery contact fault' somewhere.

He agreed that there was NOTHING wrong with the wiring and equipment I was using to connect.

Today, the connection has dropped TWICE for over an hour each time... at 11:33 until 13:13 and 14:30 until 15:18.

Tomorrow, Friday 7th July a 5th Openreach engineer will come to our house and road to investigate.

I've kind of lost the will to be cheery now.

😞

@plittlefield

I think Adam's not in the office today, mind PMing me your username and I'll check your fault following the engineer visit?

Re: Fibre - Speed Issues - Lack of Understanding by PN

I monitor the connection every minute from my Ubiquiti Edge Router using InfluxDB, Telegraf and Grafana.

This is how bad it's been during the last 24 hours...

Re: Fibre - Speed Issues - Lack of Understanding by PN

Thanks for your PM.

Sorry to see you're unable to connect at all. Line tests are struggling to complete, I've reported this as a broadband fault through to our suppliers now. We expect more information within the next 24 to 72 hours.
