Fibre SNR lowering

I seem to recall there being some talk on SNRs being reduced on Fibre from 6 to something like 2 which would allow speed increases. Does anyone know what the current status us?

Re: Fibre SNR lowering

Hi @SteveA,

I'm afraid this isn't really something we can put through. As far as I'm aware this would be done on our suppliers side against lines that seem suitable for the 3dB trial on Fibre.

I also wouldn't recommend it on a connection where you're currently also experiencing other problems such as packet loss as it's not likely to help with this and could cause the problem to become worse.

Re: Fibre SNR lowering

That was sort of why I was asking - my SNR varies quite a lot over the course of a day (on both up and down) and although there is no correlation between the SNR and the packet loss between the router and the Multicast Injector (or not apparently) I'd rather try to keep things sensible for now 😉
