Fiber Unlimited - Speed variation

Hello people,

I have started the new Fiber Unlimited connection. From what I notice in terms of speed based on multiple test on different times of the day,

LAN connected - Download 70 MBps

on Wifi - Download 48 MBps.

Am I missing something in the set-up?

Cheers,

Gnans.

Nope. That's just the way it is. Wifi is often(*) worse than a wired connection. The reason is that the wifi signals between your router and your device(s) have to compete with signals from your neighbours, and blockages like walls and even interference from other electronic stuff in your house -  it's a tough life being a packet travelling by wifi. Signals travelling along a wired connection don't have to contend with any of that stuff (especially if it's proper CATxx) cable - a packet travelling by wire is going first class Smiley

If you're getting 48Mb/s across wifi you're already doing pretty well these days.

(*)The vast majority of the time in fact. Wireless data of any kind is great if you're mobile but wired beats it hands down most of the time.
