Fast speed, poor performance

Hi, firstly I'm a new user, 13 days with Plusnet Unlimited but my speeds are persistently good - 70+mbps. However, with the exception of BBC News site, e-mail (Outlook) and Plusnet site, I'm having difficulty in working any other sites. They all time out - even my Microsoft account. I cannot view clips from the BBC site. Other sites which time out include winchester.anglican.org and basingstokedeanery.org (which I am the administrator for). I'm using Windows 10 and have an ethernet connection to the Plusnet 1 router. I'm encountering the same problem whether I use Firefox, Chrome or IE. Please advise where I should be looking for a solution. Thank you!

Re: Fast speed, poor performance

Maybe a dns issue? I've seen on the broadband forum a topic regarding dns issues.

Try using Google dns temporary to see if the problem vanishes.

Hi MikeB18,

I am sorry to hear about the issues you have currently been facing. First i would clear your cookies and cache from your web browser and even try a different web browser all together. Doing this should resolve this issue for you.

If this doesn't work can you please run these checks from this link please http://goo.gl/BZE3NM

Re: Fast speed, poor performance

http://www.basingstokedeanery.org loads slowly

www.winchester.anglican.org loads ok.

Re: Fast speed, poor performance

I think there may be routing issue in the network.  I have quite a few websites that are not working or only partially working for me, which all work via Three mobile.

e.g. connecting to www . checkupdown . com fails on Plus.net but is fine with Three.

Tracert gets no further than lo0-central10.ptn-ag04.plus.net [195.166.128.193]

www . winchester . anglican . org does not load via Plus.net, but does via Three.

Tracert on Plus.net gets as far as linx.telecityredbus.net before no further response

Tracing route to www . winchester . anglican . org [88.80.188.233]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 4 ms 2 ms 2 ms 192.168.1.1
2 22 ms 18 ms 18 ms lo0-central10.ptn-ag04.plus.net [195.166.128.193]
3 27 ms 27 ms 25 ms link-a-central10.ptn-gw01.plus.net [212.159.2.140]
4 25 ms 25 ms 25 ms xe-8-2-0.ptw-cr01.plus.net [212.159.0.116]
5 18 ms 27 ms 27 ms linx.telecityredbus.net [195.66.224.82]
6 * * * Request timed out.
7 * * * Request timed out.
8 * * * Request timed out.
9 * * * Request timed out.

Via Three final response comes from li696-233.members.linode.com [88.80.188.233]

Edit: Trying to remove automatically created hyperlinks as post is immediately rejected! What an annoying system as I cannot find how you get to the rejected post. Good job there is a back button..

Re: Fast speed, poor performance

I'm having similar issues as I can't connect to either hotmail.com or login.live.com, I can confirm that although archive.org has the Basingstoke Deanery site neither I nor isup.me can connect to it http://isup.me/www.basingstokedeanery.org.uk

Re: Fast speed, poor performance

Fix

Alan, my issues were resolved by turning off my modem for an hour.  Once it was reconnected my traffic was going via a different gateway (lo0.13.central13.pcl-bng01.plus.net [195.166.130.141] instead of lo0-central10.ptn-ag04.plus.net [195.166.128.193]).
