Fallen Below Minimum Estimated Line Speed

I would be most grateful if someone would check my line speed as my current line speed has fallen below the minimum estimated line speed.

Grateful thanks, in anticipation.

Re: Fallen Below Minimum Estimated Line Speed

Hello Brian,

I've just been running diagnostics on your line but we're not seeing any obvious problems. What speeds were you seeing? Also were you connecting over WiFi or a wired connection when you noticed that?

Re: Fallen Below Minimum Estimated Line Speed

@adamwalker,

Many thanks for your reply Adam.

This was through a wired connection, both in the BT NTE 5C socket and also in the test socket.

Just ran a BTW Speedtest which shows 39.12 and 12.29. (This is definitely not right.)

On my Current Speed Page, my estimated current speed has dropped below the estimated 64 - 80 to 61.2. Prior to this I was getting a solid 64.2, which was at the lower end of your estimate, so something is not right. Nothing in my setup has changed.

Re: Fallen Below Minimum Estimated Line Speed

@adamwalker

Interestingly, when I re-negotiated a new 18 month contract with the COT, I was informed:

"Your estimated line speed range is from 72Mbps - 80Mbps, however this may vary due to the distance from your exchange, quality of your phone line, traffic prioritisation and management policies amongst other factors."

I have never reached the dizzy heights of 72 Mbps!

I would be grateful if you would look into this, Adam.

Re: Fallen Below Minimum Estimated Line Speed

Thanks @ckcomputing.

The sync rate does certainly appear to be below the estimates for your line.

I'd recommend running through our troubleshooting guides if you haven't already done this. If you continue to experience the same problems after this, please could you report the issue over at https://faults.plus.net

If you could let us know once you've done this, we'd be happy to get this picked up and ensure it's in hand with our suppliers for further investigation.

Thanks.

Re: Fallen Below Minimum Estimated Line Speed

@HarryB

Many thanks for your input. Fault duly reported.

Have tried a couple of different modem/routers on the line, with the same disappointing results.

Will await the faults' team diagnosis.

Regards,

Brian

I always dread seeing Openreach working in in my street, be it at the cabinet or pole, because things seem to get disturbed!!

Re: Fallen Below Minimum Estimated Line Speed

Hi Brian,

That just means we've received the fault you've reported and tests have picked up on a potential cause for the issue. Whilst it's not great that there's an issue it's a good thing we've identified a possible cause for it.

We've made our supplier aware of the issue and we'll let you know when we've been updated on their findings.

Re: Fallen Below Minimum Estimated Line Speed

Hi @ckcomputing,

The fault's now been returned back to us, noting that whatever was causing the automated testing to fail has been resolved.

While I don't actually think this issue will have been fully resolved (yet) would it be possible to see if it's made any noticeable difference your side and log a couple more Wholesale Speedtests so we can go back to them.

Ta.

Re: Fallen Below Minimum Estimated Line Speed

@JOLO

Many thanks for you reply. No improvement this end! So, not fully resolved yet! (Unless there are still problems with the BTW Test?)

BTW Test :

BT Wholesale Broadband Performance Test

Broadband Speed Test Results

Download Speed (Mbps): 32.88

Upload Speed (Mbps) : 12.97

Ping Latency (ms): 32

Re: Fallen Below Minimum Estimated Line Speed

@JOLO

At 7.50 am my current line speed was showing on my Current Speed page as 64.8 Mb, it has now dropped back to 61.6 Mb - so something is not right.
