Re: FTTPoD

Got email from ICUK:
Hi, *******,
We do offer FTTP on Demand, but the installation cost would be quite.
BT Openreach are suggesting you're in Band F for that installation, and
the cost of which would be £4,375.00 plus VAT to install the service. Details below:
500GB Peak Hours Monthly Downloads
500GB Off-Peak Hours Downloads
Unlimited Uploads
Up to 330Mbps Downstream
Up to 30Mbps Upstream
36 Month Minimum Contract
£175.00 plus VAT monthly service charge.

Regards,

The total cost for full installation and service charge after three years would be approx £12,810 for Fibre To The Demand.  Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed

Re: FTTPoD

That's for a year based on a leased line.
And yes it's business grade through Bigredinternet so it will be unlimited
VM are also now actively pushing the connected cities vouchers

Re: FTTPoD

Steering this mildly disturbing thread further back towards FTTPoD...
This comment is bizarre:
Liv Garfield
Yes, so we've only done a small number, but I guess in doing that small number we've taken the course that what we want to keep really bold is the rental. So we've deliberately made sure that we cover ourselves with the connection costs upfront and the rental, as you know, for FoD remains linked to the FTTP rental. So it's the actual connection cost that we've been changing so I guess that's the bit I think you are referring to.

Really Liv? I looked closely at the product when the FoD rental was the same price as the non-transition FTTP. You know, before it was more than doubled.
It went from £456+VAT / year to £1,188+VAT / year.
Pretty odd link that one, where one stays the same and the other goes up more than 2.6-fold, not to mention that it seems to me that the rental along with the connection cost changed.
The answer Liv gave was simply wrong. Unfortunate she wasn't picked up on this error though I did enjoy her 'as you know' comment, when it appears she herself didn't.

Re: FTTPoD

Will we EVER get rid of OpenReach? They seem to be involved in pretty much everything that is crappy about Broadband in the UK...  Angry
