FTTP in Poundbury?

Hi,

Am in the process of moving house and one possible option is in the Duchy of Cornwalls estate of Poundbury. (Dorset)

I see most of the newer houses are cabled up for FTTP and wonder if anyone is using this with Plusnet or do I have to (or can I ) connect up my VDSL modem to the phone line and run FTTC as before.

Thanks for any input.... Mike

Re: FTTP in Poundbury?

Plusnet do not have a FTTP product since they closed the trial. You cannot use a VDSL set up unless you can also get a FTTC service, which is highly unlikely at a FTTP serviced new build. Bite the bullet and move into the 21st century, be it with a different ISP!

Edit

You could still use your R7000 router

Re: FTTP in Poundbury?

Thanks for the reply Baldrick1, obviously not what I wanted to hear.... FTTC was fine over in the wilds of Exmoor running at 65/17 and I have(had)  a non trivial referral count!!

(Also posted on thinkbroadband forum)

Did a BT line checker on the post code today.

https://ibb.co/Wgdjhvm

Does the "other Offerings" line saying VDSL Multicast "available" imply I might get VDSL ....?

As a retired couple on a pension we don't really need or want to pay for 330 Mbps download . I know I can pay for lower speeds but I am still trying to preserve my Plusnet Referrals!! smile

If the answer is in the positive do I need to push Plusnet into providing VDSL or will they just look at the FTTP line and say "No we can't suppply"

Thanks Mike
