FTTC upload speed consistently below 1Mbps

I have had this problem for some weeks, as well as a good number of service losses (setting aside major network problems recently).
Thought problems might be down to the Plusnet supplier router, so switched in a Netgear Nighthawk R7000. Has not made any difference.
I reset the BT Openreach modem (had to anyway over the weekend) and plugged in a fully reset Plusnet router to it using default settings. Connected both a phone and a Macbook pro a different times, and test result was pretty much the same using Speedtest.net and the Thinkbroadband speed test. Do not have an ethernet port on my laptops, so cannot do a direct PPoE connection to the VDSL modem.

How do I get the line checked?

Those results look really odd
Can you run the BT Speedtest and then Further Diagnostics
Also run the TBB test again but with your security package disabled

Cannot run the BT speedtest as I do not have an ethernet port on my Macbook Pro. Tried with a USB to Ethernet adapter but did not work. Have ordered a Thunderbolt to ethernet adaptor which should arrive tomorrow.
I have run the tests again, making sure no additional security is turned on in OS X.


Only one device is connected, this one.

Run the BT speedtest via wireless as it is the Further Diagnostics which would be interesting - it should give an upstream IP profile of 20Mbps

Borrowed my wife's laptop, connected via USB to ethernet port to my router.
Further diagnostics:

Have you raised a fault at https://faults.plus.net as something is seriously adrift with the BT systems
