FTTC sync lopsided

Hi There

I have a Plusnet connection through a plusnet partner.

The connection has been live for about 2 weeks and is on a  80/20 Annex A profile.

Downtream is stable around 64mbps but upstream is unusually low at 2.5mbps.

See line stats below:

VDSL Training Status: Showtime

This is plugged into the test socket. There is no noise on the line, and I am loathe to log a line fault as I cannot see any major issues. I appreciate that the target SNR is 6db, but I cannot see how there is such a different sync speed up/down?

Thanks all!

Welcome to the Plusnet forum.

Is this a roundabout way of saying you are with John Lewis? If so I'm afraid that you will not get any support from Plusnet staff as the two companies operate separately.

Broadband upload and download transmissions operate in different frequency bands. If you are unfortunate enough to be having interference on your line that sits in the upstream frequency band then this could happen. Alternatively you could have a fault anywhere on the system including your router and the BT infrastructure.

I guess that all you can do is try a different router or contact your 'Plusnet partner'.

No, not John Lewis. Its a small IT company.

Upstream line attenuation at 11.3dB seems ok to me, and I don't think it indicates a particularly noisy line.

The behaviour is the same across 2 x routers so I will just log a line fault and see what they say.

Hi @alexanderfoti

I'm afraid partner accounts have their own ways of contact which do no include the community forums. You should have a dedicated phone number which was provided upon signup.

I'm really sorry to say this, but i fear we will be unable to assist further tan offering you general troubleshooting steps.

Do you know what you lines upstream estimates are? Pop the Landline number in here and you should be able to see this.

Our suppliers do not guarantee upload speeds so it can be difficult to get them to investigate and resolve these types of issues (if and when it gets that far) but your contact with us should be able to point you in the right direct to troubleshoot this.

Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.

All the best,

MoR
