FTTC Cabinet Question

So, how do I find out what brand of equipment is in the cabinet?
Im curious to know as I see the the roll out of G.Inp is causing a LOT of issues for those with mismatched modems/cabs.

Re: FTTC Cabinet Question

the KItz website has pictures of what the differnt Fibre cabs look like, the eaisest way would be to go find your cab and compare it to the picture on the kitz website it's how i found out what i'm connected to.

Re: FTTC Cabinet Question

The ECI cabs have little sloped roofs on them and the Huawei ones have flat roofs. I think I established that through that Kitz link above.

Re: FTTC Cabinet Question

But the Kitz link states

Note: The shape of the cabinet top is not indicative of model. Angled or flat top is an option.

Re: FTTC Cabinet Question

All 3 types of cabs can have angled or flat tops, as its an option at the time of placing the cab housing order.

The larger Huawei 288 is easy to identify because of its size.  The grill vents are probably easiest way to distinguish between the ECI and Huawei 96.

Re: FTTC Cabinet Question

A slightly (ok, highly!) left-field option is to see if you can find the planning documents on your local council's website, this is mine for example and clearly states Huawei.

Ok maybe I was looking at another site and made the wrong assumption.

It's a Huawei cabinet (one of the smaller Huawei ones).

Re: FTTC Cabinet Question

RIght, time to get shot of the ECI Modem then.
And if its a "small" cabinet, I think I know exactly which one is mine, and its not the one at the end of my street 10 meters from my house. Sad

Re: FTTC Cabinet Question

The cabinet number should be marked on it, stencilled on in spray paint or something similar. A quick stroll should confirm which one is serving your line Smiley

Re: FTTC Cabinet Question

AndyH, how do you find out which make of cabinet you're connected to?
I've done endless Google searches trying to find a map or database. I've got a large Huawei and an ECI both equal distance from me so its doubly confusing.
I'm on Cabinet 9, Exhall exchange (CMEXH). I'm looking to buy an openreach modem that will work together with the cab.
