Equipment in Exchange

Re VDSL, is there any equipment in the exchange belonging to the ISP, if so for what purpose?

Thanks for getting in touch.

I can confirm that we do not have any equipment of our own in any exchanges as we use the supplier equipment. Some other providers do have their own equipment in the exchange to provide their services.

I think it will be an Openreach "cablelink" going to BTWholesale equipment. Other ISPs may have their own equipment instead of using BTWholesale's.

Funnily enough I had an OR SFI engineer today and he said (so don't shoot the messenger)

No Plusnet don't, only Openreach or LLU

Can you confirm all exchange equipment is the responsibility of OpenReach?

He it is, bar LLU owned (Sky for example)

He also said that there's plans to shut the exchanges down as it's controlled at the cabs

(as I said, from the horses mouth, not mine)

Not sure how that'll work if others have gear in there too - forgot to ask that bit

As mentioned by @DS Plusnet have no control over equipment in the exchange. Responsibility for the equipment within the exchange falls with the owners of that whether that be Openreach for theirs or Sky and other LLU suppliers for theirs respectively.
