Dynamic Line Management with use of stand-alone modems

So I use a Asus router and an external modem that came with my original BT set up.

Is the line speed determined by the modem-to-exchange performance or IP performance?

I.e. if I'm rebooting my router frequently, but leaving the modem connected, will the exchange eventually think my connection is dodgy and use DLM to reduce my line speed to compensate?

Re: Dynamic Line Management with use of stand-alone modems

Hi @wibblyw

DLM picks up on drops which are recorded against the line itself - be these intentional reboots or erroneous connection drops.

There is no hard and fast rule on how many it takes to trigger DLM to step in and reduce sync speed to save stability, but I've seen ti happen after only a few reebots over a few days.

It would be the Modem to Exchange performance.

It would be the Modem to Exchange performance.

So in my case, it looks like so long as the modem stays connected I can do what I like with the router and not be subject to DLM
