Re: Dropouts

Dropped again, but this time attainable rates have increased. Not sure what this means, but they are almost back to normal

26495 / 72438

22.6 dB / 10.6 dB

Re: Dropouts

your line is banded as it has been since u reported this its stuck at 55/10 if u want higher speeds u need to request the banding to be removed from your line as the gea tests show banding on everyone of them

Re: Dropouts

Hi.  Thanks for the reply, and reading through the history......

The line isn't banded, I am actually on a 55/10 product.  I think its not a well known fact that many moons ago, PlusNet offered a 40/20 fibre package, essentially a downstream banded 80/20.  This product didn't last long, and they offered to move everyone on this product to BTs 55/10 offering.  Not sure if its the actual 55/10 product or a capped product, as I appear to be syncing at around 66/10.

Line has been stable all night, with no drops at all, since around 21:30. Not sure if there is any correlation between the amount of internet traffic running through the router, but I don't feel the router was loaded yesterday....  2 wired connections, 1 active. 4 wireless connections.  It last did this Sunday AM, but looking back, its always when the internet is being actively used.  Probably no connection at all really though.  I'm back home later on this AM, and will be swapping out the BT Business Hub, for a HUB1 I have that's brand new, just as a final check on anything I have, although I doubt its the issue. The micro filter that was on was a brand new on only fitted in May, when I last had this issue, but I have replaced with another I had lying around.

Re: Dropouts

Are you paying the same for the 55/10 as you would for a 80/20 ? If so I would request you ask them to change your profile and then you would see speeds of 70+ as your attainable ratea show you are able to get the fI'll speeds or there abouts if it's the same price

Re: Dropouts

Git home, checked the status, and it had dropped again at around 00.30 thus morning, but again attainable rates have gone up and are back to normal.

11 Hours 40 Minutes 24 Seconds

10.00 Mbps / 55.00 Mbps

29784 / 72974

19.8 dB / 10.8 dB

0 dB / 14.5 dB

0 dB / 14.5 dB

Last night during the resume upstream attainable was around 22mb and downstream 66mb. Would welcome any csc advice.

@iangilf ... Not paying for 80/20. Before I was out if contract paying same price as the 40/10. I'm now out of contract, so not sure if I stay or go as yet.

Re: Dropouts

Hi @penfold I'm sorry to see your connection is still dropping. Testing your line is showing your speeds slightly below the provisioned speed of 55mbps although the main issue is definitely the intermittent heavy drops.

Re: Dropouts

Engineer couldn't find a thing wrong.....  According to my wife, they said the line is excellent.  He checked in the house, at the pole and at the Cab.

Hes changed the Master socket for a 5C, and fitted a MK 4 faceplate.  I have also now swapped to the Hub 1 router, to see how things go for a bit.

Can the ticket be updated with the Engineer notes, I would be interested to see what he actually thought.

Re: Dropouts

Thanks for getting back to us @penfold

Interestingly it doesn't appear that the engineer fully uploaded their notes so I've had to chase up Openreach for them.

I can see that the connection appears to be stable at the moment as well. I'd recommend monitoring the connection to see if the drops return

Re: Dropouts

Any notes.

The issue however seems resolved. Not sure of the cause, engineer put a new 5c plate and mk4 filter on. I have swapped out the bt hh6 for the hub 1. Maybe hub 6 had a faulty power supply. Anyhow it seems fixed. Still using hub 1 but what is the router like. I have teenage kids, and it needs to be able to stream reliably to 3 or 4 devices at the same time, as well as providing normal web access.  If not want ideas on decent fttc routers

Re: Dropouts

Hi @penfold, thanks for updating us.

The Hub One should be able to handle that many devices and more - I'd personally recommend giving it a go for a week or 2 to see how you get on.
