Draytek Vigor 2860

To all those who may be interrested: -
A few months ago my fibre connection started to slow down a bit. It had always synced at 80000 / 20000 according to the router, but it was down to about 67000 / 19000 for no apparent reason. I inspected the cabling, I upgraded the firmware, nothing would put it back until a couple of weeks ago I upgraded the firmware again to the latest UK one, 3.7.8.2  (574307 / vector2) and it all went back to its top 80000 / 20000 again.
So I guess, there had been some BT openreach upgrades that were a little bit ahead of the VDSL2 modem code in the Draytek Vigor 2860 router.

Re: Draytek Vigor 2860

Probably worth a look at the G.INP thread http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,136287.0.html that might explain the drop in speed and why the firmware upgrade fixed it.

Re: Draytek Vigor 2860

Yep, looks like it does tie up with G.INP.
So, for anyone searching for a solution, if you have a Draytek Vigor 2860 with VDSL2 line and G.INP upgraded by openreach at the cabinet, then it seems to need at least v3.7.8.2  (with 574307 / vector2 modem code) to work at full speed. I see that there is a v3.7.8.3 out now but there seem to be no changes in the modem code in that one.
