Downgrading from Fibre Extra to Unlimited Fibre 1st August Changes

I’m currently on Unlimited Fibre Extra. I understand that Plusnet will be increasing speed to 52/19 Mbps - download/upload respectively on Unlimited Fibre from 1st August. If I downgrade to Unlimited Fibre what is the likelihood that I'd get 58/19mbps, I currently get download of around 59Mbps on Unlimited Fibre Extra which is less than I was promised before I switched.

Absolutely nil

The only customers being offered 55/10 are those on the previously sold 40/20

There is no product 55/20 so for you there are only 2 options 80/20 or 40/2

Re: Downgrading from Fibre Extra to Unlimited Fibre 1st August Changes

Thanks Oldjim for your reply. I recently got an email saying I could leave without penalty because of price rises. I’ve only been with Plusnet since March 2016. If I “left” and entered a new contract would the situation be the same?

Re: Downgrading from Fibre Extra to Unlimited Fibre 1st August Changes

Just tried to gain a better contract (after about 9 years with Plusnet).

I was told they would insist upon me transferring my phone to them.

I would be offered the "special deal" that anybody gets for signing up with them.

I will stick with my 80/20 2013 product as it's out of contract and not liable for a price increase.

Very misleading, awarding themselves all those broadband awards, when broadband is just a sideline for them.

I'm getting conflicting information. Do Plus net employees answer posts on this forum?

Sometimes they do!  I think Oldjim has been perfectly clear, if you downgrade you will get 40/2 service not 55/10.

On other threads where Plusnet staff have posted

https://community.plus.net/t5/Fibre-Broadband/New-speeds-for-new-customers/m-p/1346379#M40725

https://community.plus.net/t5/Plusnet-Feedback/How-long-before-Plusnet-put-up-their-prices-to-follow...

all say that 55/10 is not for sale to anyone, it is just going to be used by those few on a legacy product.

Re: Downgrading from Fibre Extra to Unlimited Fibre 1st August Changes

I spoke to Plusnet this morning who said I could downgrade to the new 52/19Mbps. However on this thread I’ve got differing views as VileRaynard said that he “I would be offered the "special deal" that anybody gets for signing up with them”

Both Oldjim and RealAleMadrid say I’d only get 40/2 if I downgraded

Are Plusnet liars like TalkTalk?

Re: Downgrading from Fibre Extra to Unlimited Fibre 1st August Changes

Fix

As we are all customers and I've given 2 links to where Plusnet staff (both senior people) have both said that the 55/10 product isn't for sale, I would suggest you make your own mind up.

Plusnet currently only sell 2 types of FTTC Broadband, a 40/2 or an 80/20 product. And that is the sum total. Two speed options.

In the past, they have been other speeds on offer for general sale but they have been removed from the product range over a period of time. People on 1 of those are being moved on the 1st August to 55/10 to save Plusnet money as they were on an expensive wholesale option. But that doesn't alter what you or I could buy.
