Do I need a modem?

I have just upgraded to fibre broadband but no mention was made of needing a modem, which I am told by a friend that I will need. Plus net just asked for the model no of my router and said it was compatible but no mention of a modem. If so does an engineer need to visit?

@SMMunro - Most 'routers' supplied by ISPs are combined modem/routers. As you don't state your model, I assume the PN rep was correct, but if you need confirmation, what is it?

FYI, fibre installs these days only need BTOR engineers to visit your local cabinet - the modems/routers are self-install as your ADSL one was.

Thanks for getting in touch - I've checked your account but it doesn't specify which router you currently have. I can see that my colleague has just responded to the open ticket on your account here. Given your post here I've arranged for a router to be dispatched to you and waived the postage costs on this occasion.
