Decreasing speeds

Hi
Long time PN customer, small time PN complainer Smiley
I'm on the 70/20 FTTC package.  Using the OR modem into a Draytek 2830 router.  When out cabinet was enabled I was the 2nd person to be connected and my speeds were constantly in the 60s down and 19 or 20 up.
Since then the speed has dropped and dropped.  I'm now in the range of 40/45 down and 10 up.  I appreciate that speeds may drop off as the cabinet gets busier.  However yesterday I happened to be at a neighbours house, who's on the same cabinet and a similar distance from the cab.  He has a BT connection using a BTH5.  Speedtests got him bang on 70 down and 20 up.  Consistent and repeatable.
Does this mean something is "wrong" with my connection?  Would I benefit from replacing the OR modem with a new router that has a built in FTTC modem?
Is there anywhere I can check my line stats on the PN site and can anything be done to improve it?
Download speedachieved during the test was - 45.42 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 37.77 Mbps-47.21 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 47.21 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 10.11Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps
Many Thanks
Dan

Re: Decreasing speeds

Our tests aren't showing any faults which could cause this and there's no banding applied to your line.
We could look at sending a engineer out however I can't guarantee that they'd be able to increase it.

Re: Decreasing speeds

Thanks for the reply.
If you've got access to historical speeds can you see the gradual reduction in my connection?  Would swapping out the OR (ECI) modem for an integrated one in a router assist at all?
If that's the speed then fine, however
1. it used to be much faster
and
2. my neighbour on a different ISP has much higher speeds

Re: Decreasing speeds

?
Sad
I managed to get a HH5 last night on ebay for £15 delivered.  I will report back on if that helps at all.

Re: Decreasing speeds

Line profiles can not be altered on fibre by an ISP, only an openreach engineer can ask for a DLM / Line reset even then it's up to them if they feel one would be needed based on what they think the problem is,  i would have taken Matthews offer of a engineer visit before purchasing a different modem because as you have seen it wont make a difference.

Re: Decreasing speeds

Ahh, ok.
I like to explore all possibilities of an issue being "my" problem before complaining Smiley  £15 is a small amount to pay for a backup connection device to be fair.
Yes please to an engineer visit if that's still on offer?

Re: Decreasing speeds

My speed stats here from my telephone number.  I'm pretty much bang on the low numbers now.  If it keeps going at the same rate I suspect in a month i'll be below it.

It's the halfing of my upload that hurts the most.  It was always bang on 19+meg up

!
Explain this...
The HH5 is reporting line stats of 60/14 this morning.  That's up over 10 since I plugged it in.  Interestingly I now get a red bar on my BT speed test.  I guess this is because the speeds are outside of what's deemed acceptable?
Download speedachieved during the test was - 47.44 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 48.19 Mbps-60.23 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 60.23 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 5.89Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps

Re: Decreasing speeds

Speeds going up.  Highest it has been in a few months now.  Now sure why the upload has fallen away though.  IP profile dropped a few meg since this morning though.  I wonder why it appears to be fluctuating so much.  Is this signs of a fault?
Download speedachieved during the test was - 52.74 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 46.42 Mbps-58.03 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 58.03 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 6.36Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps

Re: Decreasing speeds

Anybody care to comment on my improvements since fitting a HH5?  Lower pings and 10meg down faster.
Also can I have my upload speed back?
Please.

Re: Decreasing speeds

Bump.
I'd love to open a ticket concerning this.  Is it possible?
