Re: Daily connection drops, upload speed terrible, download speed poor/variable

Think it's sorted now. Nice friendly Openreach guy came round and did a great job taking a long time to track down the issue. Improvement on wiggling things in the cabinet but all kinds of weird errors on the line that appeared to be traced down to cable entering the house from the drop. Much fiddling, new socket and cable, seems to be sorted.

50 down, 18 up. His test kit said should be 80/20 (80?, I guess pretty much max anyway) and suggests the antique BT VSDL modem and PlusNet Technicolor router might play a part in it.

Though could be profile needs resetting?

He suggests getting updated kit though from PlusNet.

Re: Daily connection drops, upload speed terrible, download speed poor/variable

Stable it seems and PN tests on ticket (and engineer said same) are showing max speeds of 70ish down, but I'm still only getting 50ish down.

Got a PlusNet Hub One sent to me on engineer recommendation, but reading other threads I think that's staying in the box. Can't set DNS so that's likely a deal breaker for a start and then seems there's loads of reliability issues.

So back to the speed issue. Could this be a profile issue?

My kit used to get full speed (70ish down, 20ish up).

Fix

Took the plunge on setting up the Hub One and it does actually sort out the speed cap. Or better anyway. I'm getting speeds of 61 down now. Link speed in log says 71.
