DNS?

Hi all,

Over the past few days I have noticed issues whilst web browsing. My connection as far as I am aware has been fine and there are no problems there, however webpages fail to fully load or cause IE or Safari on my iPad to lock up and freeze / crash.

As an experiment I set the DNS on my computer manually to 8.8.8.8 and have been using my computer without issue, there also seems to be a substantial speed improvement.

I recall this was an issue sometime ago for PlusNet, however the fix was easier at that time as the old router allowed changing of DNS entry, the new HubOne does not.

Any one else had any issues?

Thanks

R

Re: DNS?

Google DNS can feel a bit faster than Plusnet's sometimes but as the Hub One doesn't allow you to change DNS you would need to do it at OS level on each client. I find this Windows app makes swapping DNS around easier than manually changing it in TCP/IP http://www.sordum.org/7952/dns-jumper-v2-1/ Other than that you'd need to change router to one that supports DNS config.
