D/L speed drop by about 50% since last modem reboot

Hi  there Plusnet support,

what has happened to my line? The d/l speed has dropped from around 40 to 20 Mbs in the last 4 days. I can see noise margin of 17.9 db is the problem. Can you check the line/equipment at your end. Nothing has changed locally.

see stats  from modem taken this afternoon. Many thanks, Ian

Re: D/L speed drop by about 50% since last modem reboot

Hi @dvvrue95

Thanks for getting in touch.

I absolutely agree that your speed has dropped - our line test confirms this. However, no external faults are being detected at present.

Could you please get your router into the test socket as shown here and run another wired speed test - if the results are still lower than we'd expect, please raise a fault here and we'll ask our suppliers to take a look at this for you.

Just give us a nudge here if/when you raise a fault.

Best wishes

Dave

Re: D/L speed drop by about 50% since last modem reboot

Hi Dave,

thanks for yr quick response. Decided to just do a modem reset i.e. disconnect / (re)connect this afternoon before replugging my master socket.I have a BT 5C with a Mk4 filtered faceplate so usually have to hunt around for a microfilter to use test socket. The modem reset seems to have corrected the issue, see latest modem stats :-

5. DSL uptime: 0 days, 00:09:47
6. Data rate: 11022 / 46588
7. Maximum data rate: 11022 / 48644
8. Noise margin: 6.2 / 5.9
9. Line attenuation: 28.5 / 20.6
10. Signal attenuation: 28.4 / 18.4

I will keep an eye on the speed for a few days, cheers Ian
