Re: Continual intermittent dropped packets

I knew it was too good to last Angry Have been on psb-bng02 (Southbank) for a while now without problems (having jumed over from Colindale); but since about 2pm this afternon I am seeing the 1%-2% packet loss "curtain" again. Minimum & average latency are ok, but frequent spikes up to 80ms and beyond

Re: Continual intermittent dropped packets

@beeceegee, do you have a latency graph you can share?

@Weety, that hop 3 behaviour is expected, increased latency beyond it isn't though Huh

On southbank via BNG01 really good at the moment, no packet loss and average 8ms latency to bbt.co.uk

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/share/9d4841ebd0df53d16f0b1cf7877aec6d-30-11-2016.html

we were out all afternoon so router probably had not much else to do other than respond to tbb pings!

PS haven't worked out the secret of getting the actual graph into the post yet Sad

Re: Continual intermittent dropped packets

@bobpullen

The packet loss last night died down around 23:00, but returned around 9:00 this morning. It may have stopped again (now 12:15) but here's the live graph link just in case:

Re: Continual intermittent dropped packets

If its not one thing its another with Plusnet, the packet loss seems to have stopped on my line but im now getting peak time slow down,my throughput has been steadily falling since 4pm from 34mbps down to 14mbps(as it currently stands),its getting beyond a joke.

Re: Continual intermittent dropped packets

What gateway are you on (old/new or static IP?) or just on the new network with no gateway?

Just jumped around a few for Soutbank, Collindale and Telehouse and I get pretty much the same on each

https://speedof.me/show.php?img=161201191614-7489.png

(for those that havnt used speedof.me the dips are the start of each test, not a drop in a single test run)

Im on a Hub1 so cant use TBB ping graphs, but when i use ping plotter out to www.bbc.co.uk not getting any packetloss when i send messages at the moment either,

Re: Continual intermittent dropped packets

Just FYI I'm on Colindale and mine is still behaving OK:

My Broadband Ping - PlusnetMonitor

Yes I do get up and surf at 04:30 !

That's why it goes dead at 8pm

Let's be careful out there !

Sorry to hear you're having problems. To avoid any confusion through, probably best we keep this particular thread specific to packet loss. Feel free to start another thread though if the problems continue. Sounds like there may be some local congestion at your exchange.

Re: Continual intermittent dropped packets

@scrookes think I have tracked down I also had packet loss due to REIN caused by my laptop power supply. With laptop powered off and power supply unplugged, no sign of packet loss on my TBB graph.

Re: Continual intermittent dropped packets

@godsell4

Massive improvement to errors on your connection having just tested your line:

Parameters Last Traffic Count(Upto 15 mins) Current Traffic Count(Upto 15 mins)
Start Time Stamp 2016-12-02T09:00:33Z 2016-12-02T09:15:33Z
Ingress Code Violation 0 0
Egress Code Violation 0 10
Errored Seconds 0 1
Severely Errored Seconds 0 0
Unavailable Seconds 0

0

Previously when checking this, it was showing ES in the thousands and SES in 100's.

Re: Continual intermittent dropped packets

Ive not had a chance to read all this thread, but this comment caught my eye....

Are you saying that other plugged in devices around the house can affect an internet connection? or at least the packet loss/errors a line gets?

If so, that is like a needle in a haystack trying to pinpoint what appliance could be causing hassle.
