Constant dropouts for last 5 days

my FTTC with a Plusnet Hub 1 has been regularly dropping out for the last 5 days.  it is also slower than usual on the speed tests when it is connected.

it is plugged directly in to the BT master socket, installed by plusnet (BT) a few years back.

before last Friday it was working well, although only hovering around the minimum guaranteed line speed, it did at least stay connected.

Light on router goes orange, broadband goes red, sometimes can take anywhere between 2 and 15 minutes to return to service

these events in the log seem to coincide with the drops in connection.

its driving me mad, i use it for my work, support so far have suggested I try changing the microfilter etc which it doesn't have on newer master socket. seriously thinking of going elsewhere.

any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Constant dropouts for last 5 days

Hi there. I'm sorry to hear of the connection problems you've had.

It looks like the engineer we've arranged fixed the problem by removing the star wiring from your property. This is a very old type of wiring which generally causes a lot of issues with fibre connections.

How's your connection since then?

Re: Constant dropouts for last 5 days

Hello

The Engineers did remove the Star wiring, he was surprised that engineer who installed the original FTTC connection and replaced the master socket left it as star in the first place,  he also commented that the new master socket wasn't wired correctly.

I have only noticed one disconnection since the engineers visit, which is a vast improvement. so I hope that this has resolved the issues.  Although I am yet to replicate his tested line speed with just the router and a wired laptop connected.
