Connection drops at the router

Hi all.

I've been with Plus.net Fibre since early December 2017 and it has been great with speeds of around 50 - 60 MBPS. Nonetheless, in the past week, the access point has started to lose the connection at source around 3-4 times per day in which the orange light will blink and connection will be lost for around 5-10 minutes.

I've tried changing the filter which hasn't helped and my line is plugged in at source at the main BT telephone entry point in my home. This is only a recent problem in the last week or so too with no problems at all prior to this.

I've had a look at the log on my router which doesn't really give any clues at all although there are some bizarre entries. One for yesterday for example. Random entries dated April.

11:31:21, 17 Jan. ( 30.560000) System up, firmware version: 4.7.5.1.83.8.237.2.2

11:31:07, 17 Jan. ( 16.480000) System start 00:00:40, 11 Apr. ( 40.880000) CWMP: session closed due to error: Could not resolve host

00:00:36, 11 Apr. ( 36.740000) CWMP: Initializing transaction for event code 1 BOOT

00:00:35, 11 Apr. ( 35.630000) Wire Lan Port 2 up 00:00:34, 11 Apr. ( 35.240000) WAN Auto-sensing running.

00:00:30, 11 Apr. ( 30.540000) System up, firmware version: 4.7.5.1.83.8.237.2.2 00:00:15, 11 Apr. ( 16.250000) System start 11:26:45, 17 Jan. (180201.600000) PTM over DSL is down after 901 minutes uptime

11:26:45, 17 Jan. (180201.590000) PPPoE is down after 900 minutes uptime [Waiting for Underlying Connection (WAN Ethernet 7 - Down)]

This is only on the one incident though - the entries for the other downtimes don't have any odd data.

Thanks

Re: Connection drops at the router

Hello BooksHierogram

I have looked at your connection for this past week and I can see it has dropped once every day, which is normal for broadband connections. The drops you are seeing, could you please advise if that is on a wireless connection or on a device connected by wire.

Re: Connection drops at the router

Hi Sammy. Thanks for the reply. The connections have dropped both when connected wirelessly and also when I'm connected via an ethernet cable direct into the router. I tried swapping out the filter which made no difference and the router is connected to the main telephone point in my home. Thanks

Hi BooksHierogram

I am sorry you are having this issue, and as we can not see this on our side we will need you to go through some checks to rule out anything internal. Once completed, if the drops are still occurring we can raise it to a faults team. Please click here to go through them.
