Re: Connection dropping constantly

Hi there,

As you can see from the connection logs it's dropping roughly once an hour which is unusual.

Do you have access to a different router to try so we can get straight on to ruling out a hardware issue?

Re: Connection dropping constantly

I'd not make that assumption just on the one drop as that can happen to anyone, lets take a look later this afternoon then we should start to have a clearer view of things.

Re: Connection dropping constantly

Ok, well i just dont want to waste time with it. I realise it can happen to anyone but when its been dropping constantly every hour its hard to be optimistic when it drops not long after a hardware change. My speed right now on this router seems awful also.

Re: Connection dropping constantly

Hi, I can see it's dropping.

We have logs so don't worry about posting each time (some might see it as bumping the thread so I'd be careful)

I can't pick this up with you again right now but please bear with me and I will come back to you before the end of my shift.

Re: Connection dropping constantly

sorry to bump, have just checked my phone and theres no dial tone atall, completely dead? if that helps

update on this:

Ok i plugged the phone into the filter attached to the test socket and dial tone is fine. However the downstairs phone socket there is no dial tone.

I have  a master socket 5C with a MK4 face plate upstairs whgere the router is connected to, then just a normal one downstairs for the phone. Does the faact i removed the MK4 plate for the test socket effect the downstairs one? as it was fine this morning according to my parents.

Re: Connection dropping constantly

Removing the faceplate also disconnects all your internal wiring which will be why you have no dial tone on your extension. Internal wiring can often have advese effects on your broadband speeds, hence why testing from the test socket helps eliminate possible internal wiring issues.

Re: Connection dropping constantly

Hi KaotiK

I'm still seeing frequent drops so leaving it int eh test socket (which is more likely to be the one downstairs) would be a good idea to try next.

Here's a few other things you can try: https://goo.gl/tu2WWu
