No noise i can hear on line...if it were noise connection would just drop randomly anyways would it not?

This stable until upload using the ethernet port.

I don't think it's a problem with your router/modem but rather your connection. As bobminors says, it seems to be the Plusnet end that is initiating the termination of the link and, from what you have described, this may only be happening if/when the upstream is being saturated - perhaps in that state errors are more likely to occur if there's an underlying signal quality problem?

Thanks for that...was just about to ask if you thought it was router or connection.

And thanks to all who have answered...appreciated

Except that it apparently works fine when uploading over wireless, and it's pretty easy for wireless to be faster than 2Mb/s.

So it sounds like an issue with the router to me.

Just got it to drop over wireless too.....

Tried for hours last time over wireless and was solid. First time today, failed...

Re: Connection drop on uploads with new fibre router only on ethernet.

06:25:55, 09 Oct. (392117.480000) PPPoE is up - Down Rate=27610Kbps, Up Rate=2001Kbps; SNR Margin Down=6.0dB, Up=24.3dB

Definitely worth letting BT check the line, if only to eliminate that as a cause. The line quality isn't wonderful, if it can only manage 27Mbps download at 6dB SNR. Does that match the speed estimate you were given after you signed up? If so, then fair enough, you are a long way from the cabinet, or the wiring under the street is old, or whatever, but if it's a lot less than the estimate then that would tend to suggest that a noisy connection is at least part of the problem.

Re: Connection drop on uploads with new fibre router only on ethernet.

Yeh think the wiring about here is old aluminum. Think the speed is ok...on adsl i got  4-5mb on up to 8mb.. Now im getting 27-28mb on upto 38mb. Ratio wise thats about the same.

Could it take some time after swapping to fibre/vdsl2 to stabalise..I swapped on 30th october

No not necessarily, if there isnt much going down the line traffic wise then the errors may be tollerable by the network and can correct with retries / error correction, but when there is too much traffic for it to be able to cope with things like the PPP control messages could get lost and thus force the bt/plusnet end to think the connection isnt responding and then you auto create a new one.

Apologies for resurrecting this thread, but I have exactly the same issue.

Sekonz, did you come to some sort of conclusion after BT came?

Sorry to hear you're having connection problems when uploading.

It looks like this is related to the issues discussed here

I've added your account to the list of affected accounts, so that our products team can investigate this further.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

No.

I had 3 BT visits. No joy. 3 routers. 2 plusnet routers and 1 other brand. Same issue. Cant upload for without dropping after a bit.

I just do my uploads from work now.
