Change from adsl to fibre - bt requirements

Planning ahead here.
When exchange goes fibre, hopefully December this year, is there any requirement to change cabling inside home or will new fibre router thing just plug into main socket as the adsl router does?
Do you still need microfilters?

Thanks in anticipation.

The engineer will come and change the faceplate to a fibre socket and plug in the Openreach modem for you. The router will plug in to the modem and off you go.

Re: Change from adsl to fibre - bt requirements

Worth noting however that BT will not be supplying modems from January 2016 (may have been pushed back to March 2016?) so it's more than likely that any FTTC upgrade will be on a self install basis rather than BT visiting your home.  Plusnet have yet to announce their chosen modem/router setup and it may well include continued use of microfilters...
