Can't log into network devices through MacBook

Hi - I'm trying to access another device on my network that's connected to the router and when I try to access my network from my MacBook I just get an error, not connected message

I've tried 'admin' and my email@plusdsl.net with the right passwords but with no success... I ca't figure out what I'm not doing right?

No idea exactly how you connect to a MacBook on a network, but your email should be in the form of 'mailboxname@yourusername.plus.com, and not as you have indicated above.

How are and what are you connecting to?
The other device will not have anything to do with your plusnet or router credentials.
If I want to connect to another mac on my local network I have to use an account that's set up on that machine.

Told you I knew nothing about network sharing, and I wondered about the email address question, too.

Re: Can't log into network devices through MacBook

Hi, thanks for your replies.

It's a games console (xbox) that i've plugged into my router with an ethernet cable.

That device won't have any log in credentials to access the internal HD but I can't see it on my network until I can get access through the router.

Why are you trying to connect to your Xbox - not sure it supports any user direct connection?

Re: Can't log into network devices through MacBook

It's an OG version that's been modded with Emulators

Re: Can't log into network devices through MacBook

you should be able to get the IP address from the xbox and use that to connect directly.

Re: Can't log into network devices through MacBook

There is a multitude of reasons why this might not work...

How does each device connect to the router?

Does the router have any privacy settings which prevents one device "seeing" other devices?

How does each device profile the network - pubic or private?  If public then the device itself might be blocking access from other on-lan devices.
