Can't connect to Google.co.uk or youtube - anyone else?

Also see http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,135472.0.html which confirms plusnet uses Google caches in the local network, so that would mean you should see plusnet owned IPs for google hosted services.
From the dig above its going direct to google now (can you try again Lawrence?) so might be an issue with the google caches that are now being bypassed?

Yup -- I can confirm that, from here, it's working again; single IP address returned for www.google.co.uk, certificate ties in with that address, and cyphers negotiated OK.
Super. I always wondered how hard it was going to be to get mandatory https to work with CDNs, and now we know :).

I think Google updated something that caused OSX to throw a hissy fit, there was a thread on reddit where someone was haivng the same problem and they were from a different country I Think.

It appears to have been due to changes made to Google's caching servers.
Different ISPs use these in different ways which may explain why some have been unaffected or maybe saw their customers affected in slightly different ways.

Thank You to everyone who helped keep all of us affected informed and who gave up there time to narrow down the cause.
I am guessing this had little to do with the Plus Net and it was Google(let me know if I have this right).

Is anyone  (Plusnet?) able to say what the actual underlying fault was?    We were locked out of Google over this period, but I didn't investigate further as our service was going though some known bad spells, and I put it down to just another symptom - hence I didn't check different DNS servers or anything.

Hi all,
As I mentioned above it happened due to changes Google made to their caching servers.
As each ISP utilizes these in different ways it will have affected some ISPs but not others.

So this is now happening again...
Started last night. Was working fine again today but as of around an hour ago it's gone again. Unable to access any site in Googles range.

Extremely intermittant access this morning. Was working fine to start with, now again can't access anything connected to Google at all. Even PN's site has become extremely slow to respond and yet all other sites are working fine - unless they connect to Google for ads or tracking, in which case they are very slow or time out also.

Could be related to an incident we have raised about intermittently poor connectivity to Google-hosted stuff (ref: 89389).
