Quote from: Steff
Tried it. Not sure it really happened. Terminal said: "No matching processes were found"
It didn't change anything regarding google/youtube use. But it would be good if another user tried it.

I've just edited the quote slightly.

Tried dvoraks two commands and though they seemed to go through, they apparently didn't affect the central problem. (Matty, you say you edited your quote, but it still has a lowercase R is responder and still gets spat out by terminal.)

Just edited it again, my apologies.  Roll_eyes
We are soon to finish for the evening, though our 24/7 team are still investigating the issue.

Just for info: Will your 24/7 team post here or on twitter if they have a solution? If not, when might we find out about a solution (assuming one comes)? Thanks.

Re: Can't connect to Google.co.uk or youtube - anyone else?

Just got connected yesterday to Plusnet Broadband (not Fibre) and all was fine until about 7PM this evening, when I could not get onto Google or YouTube . . . thank you Bing for coming to the rescue  Smiley
I couldn't connect with Safari or Firefox, did not try Chrome. I cleared cache in Safari and still same problem, restarted and still could not connect and then now it is connecting again. I feel fairly sure it is a Plusnet problem, rather than MAC, to do with https -  in fact I have a feeling I had this happen before when using BT/Plusnet.

In honesty, it's unlikely that there'll be any further updates tonight, at the moment we're still collecting information.
Both Adam Walker and Ben B are in tomorrow morning. I have asked them to check in on the thread first thing.

Thanks MattyC.
In all honesty, not being able to use Google or YouTube is rather a massive deal.
I thought Plusnet would be on this 24/7 until fixed.

Just because we won't be posting updates here doesn't mean we aren't investigating the issue Smiley
We've escalated this and we're investigating with Google as to what the cause is but it's not just a simple fix I'm afraid.

Thanks to all for your input PN, and customers. Hope this gets sorted asap. I am out all day tomorrow until about 6.00, so please don't take my lack of activity tomorrow as ingratitude or indifference.

Re: Can't connect to Google.co.uk or youtube - anyone else?

I have had this problem since around lunchtime today. Causing serious problems for my business. Astonished that PlusNet have not thought it proper to inform me of the situation.
Affecting Google Drive, Calendar, Google.com, YouTube. Cannot access any of them.
Very let down by ISP.

Re: Can't connect to Google.co.uk or youtube - anyone else?

Same problem here with my other halfs iPad Mini which can't connect to google getting the message "safari can't establish a secure connection". Have tried restarting the iPad resetting network connections, clearing Safaris cache. Strangely enough my iPad is fine and so is using Opera on her iPad.
Just tried tethering her iPad to my three mobile phone and Google works fine, when I connect back to PN I can't connect again so definitely a problem at plus.net

Re: Can't connect to Google.co.uk or youtube - anyone else?

Hi there folks, Lawrence here;  new on this forum, but have been using confusers for many years.
From what I see DIG for www.google.co.uk gives me a bunch of hosts, ALL OF THEM WITHIN PLUS.NET's NET RANGE. Hmmmmmmmm...

Check out 'whois 216.58.208.67'
get GOOG
Check out 'whois 212.56.71.99'
get Plus.net.
So .... has your proxy google service decided to not play with https?
That's what I'm getting as the error in Safari 7.1.8; could be that your local google-alike doesn't negotiate the cyphersuite properly with Safari.
Hack Solution for me is to change my DNS resolver to 8.8.8.8. Makes an https:// connection to google fine.
I'm unamused at this -- is a recent (like, yesterday) change, and I run my own resolver so getting plus.net services is kinda odd.
Q: Why is there a google-alike service run by Plus.net, and why is it broken?
atb,  Lawrence
p.s. for the avoidance of doubt, doing an explicit query at the plus.net DNS resolvers gives me the plus.net google-alike service as well

Very detailed Lawrence, thank you. Well, Google, Youtube  and GoogleDrive seems to be working now for me. Anyone else?
