Knew equipment wasn't my strong point!!!

 

Using a second router as an access point / Ethernet switch is potentially both the cheapest and neatest solution. Only one box / power socket required downstairs.

Yes @Baldrick1 Its an elderly WAP model, but cheap ! And if it does the job then the OP can look for something newer.

I agree another hub one would work but we'd probably need to help him set it up - The Netgear is relatively simple.

There's a Hub One currently on Ebay at a buy it now price of £14.95. And what's wrong with helping set it up if necessary. The instructions on my link look simple to follow.
