Budget Wireless Router

Hi,
Since having my Fibre broadband installed ive had nothing but problems with the wireless dropping out all the time
Can anyone recommend any decent wireless routers with a maximum price tag of around £80.
I rely on the wireless a lot so wireless is important to me

Re: Budget Wireless Router

Yeah buy a D-Link Dir-615 and put dd-wrt on it, max cost from ebay should be £10, I run 2 on my network, rev D2 and D4.
As a side note, I run a local cache per AP as follows.

Re: Budget Wireless Router

You will be able to purchase the excellent Asus RT-N56U for £70.41 from Amazon. I've been using mine for over 2 years & it is brilliant. Smiley

Yes the Asus ! I run an Asus RT-AC68U, however have always recommended the Asus routers to people and everyone has always been more than impressed. You will not get issues on your wireless unless the problem is caused by an external source.

Re: Budget Wireless Router

Because of the way fibre works would this ASUS device replace the Plusnet box? I'd imagine the BT Openzone box is vital

AC68U Is £150!
Your best option is...

Why would I want to do away with the BT modem?

You don't unless you want to use just a single box and be eco-freindly tijara33 Smiley

Re: Budget Wireless Router

That TP-link having limited VDSL2 diagnostics would kill the idea for me.
The Kitz forum has a list of combined router-modems that do away with the Openreach modem. I think people on the list seem to like one of the Zyxel models...

I have been running two separate boxes, and use the TP-Link WDR3600 as a router. Right now, I'm very pleased it does simultaneous 5GHz and 2.4GHz wifi.

Re: Budget Wireless Router

I'm not bothered about doing away with the Openreach box just the Plusnet router.
Both are on different sides of the room so just looking to replace the Plusnet fibre router

Re: Budget Wireless Router

The TP link doesn't need the BT modem at all.
The wan diag is basic, but more than you get from the PN box, without hacking the BT modem.

I have plenty of AP's that will do PPPoE you can have one for nothing if I can post it. It's not that big
its a tp-link and it has ww-drt on it already. It's a tp-link WR1043ND I think
