Broadband slower

Back in mid September 2016 a contractor was working in my cabinet changing out the strips to a new type of tool less strips (replacing the IDC ones)  since them my speed has dropped by approx 10Mb.  My speed results now look like this

Date         Down  UP

11/10/16  49.43  18.12
05/10/16  50.26  17.58

12/09/16  60.68  18.45
20/08/16  59.12  18.43
04/07/16  62.52  18.33
20/06/16  62.47  18.37
19/03/16  59.72  16.52
18/02/16  65.99  17.79
20/01/16  63.52  16.75

I have restarted my router and modem with no increase in my speed.  Is this fall off due to the BT work or has Plusnet done something to slow down my service.

Re: Broadband slower

Hi there,

There can be a wide range of reasons for speeds to change. From the line degrading, to crosstalk as more users are installed at your cabinet, a fault, other noise on the line etc.

Testing your line is showing a sync speed of 60Mbps

Test Outcome Pass
Test Outcome Code GTC_FTTC_SERVICE_0003
Description No problem found, OAM test is not currently supported on this line.
Main Fault Location OK
Sync Status In Sync
Downstream Speed 60.0 Mbps
Upstream Speed 20.0 Mbps

I'm afraid that as this is still within the estimate range, it's not something we could report as a fault.

Estimates:

Featured Products

Downstream Line Rate(Mbps)

Upstream Line Rate(Mbps)

Downstream Range(Mbps)

WBC FTTC Availability Date

WBC SOGEA Availability Date

Left in Jumper

  High Low High Low
VDSL Range A (Clean) 71.2 54.6 20 15.8 -- Available -- --
