Broadband connection freezes when the phone is answered

Hi,
I have not been too impressed with my fibre connection to date. The estimated speeds were not met when installed and now I notice that the connection freezes whilst the home phone is in use, it then resumes a little after the call is finished.
It is frustrating when the line rental increases in cost, considering other users pay the same fees for 60mb speeds and reliable connections.
Please let me know if anything can be improved.

Does the DSL light go out on the OpenReach modem when the phone is in use?

Are you still connected in to the engineer fitted socket and is there any noise at all on the phone line?
