Re: BT Vectoring Trials

If you unlock the modem is 2 ways to find out.
You can check the band plan, ECI cabs have a longer band plan.  My ECI goes to 4083 at the end.
Or a command will list the dslam chipset.
> xdslctl info --vendor
xdslctl: ADSL driver and PHY status
Status: Showtime
Last Retrain Reason:    1
Last initialization procedure status:   0
Max:    Upstream rate = 31615 Kbps, Downstream rate = 72641 Kbps
Bearer: 0, Upstream rate = 20000 Kbps, Downstream rate = 72916 Kbps
ChipSet Vendor Id:      IFTN:0xb204
ChipSet VersionNumber:  0xb204
ChipSet SerialNumber:   5501843597
IFTN = ECI
Huawai should show as broadcom which I think will be BDCM.

Re: BT Vectoring Trials

my cab probably doesn't have anything in it yet as it only appeared today

Looking at your speed test results your upload seems very low compared to the download http://www.thinkbroadband.com/guide/fibre-broadband.html indicates that it should be 35/14
Is there any reason for that as far as you know

Re: BT Vectoring Trials

You can figure out whether it will be ECI/Huawei from how it looks - http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/fttc-cabinets.htm#fttc_street_cabinet
You'd be unlucky to get an ECI cabinet, statistically speaking.

Re: BT Vectoring Trials

Well I hope it's a good speed for you Oldjim, if anybody deserves it, you must be top of the list for sure Smiley
In all honesty, we have come to the conclusion that the speed we have is more than enough, we don't do big downloads etc just mostly streaming.
The best I've seen banded around here is about 9 UP for our sort of distance.

Re: BT Vectoring Trials

If I was getting your ADSL speeds I wouldn't bother
My estimate is up to 3Mbps although I get nearer 3.5Mbps on speed tests

Aren't ECI cabs black and the Huawei ones green? Or is that too much of a generalisation?
Also I thought modems were given to match the cab type?

DLM manages your line the same way DRM manages your rights.
Look at all the pretty graphs! (now with uptime logging!)

Re: BT Vectoring Trials

My line is 400m from the cab (confirmed by OR) and I'm getting 37/7, they did originally think 7 was way too low but eventually put it down to the aluminium half my line is made out of, and it's not worth their while replacing it with copper....
