There is big reduced speed in broadband with latest BQM has largest packet loss and increasing higher latency since 8pm.
Is there fault on BT network, exchange or gateway?

Yep, it affect me, my parents, oliver, rpm and townman in this latest BQM graphs
Pity my graph isn't there!
Does changing to different gateway solve this?

Worth the minimal effort of dropping the PPPoE and reconnecting, to see if you can land on a different gateway.
If the issue is in regional backhaul between your PoP area and Plusnets data centres then it will not work.
