Awful speeds, pings and frequently no service

Have been a very happy plusnet customer for a couple of years on the 80/20 unlimited. Since ysterday my connection drops, then reconnects after a short time (changes). Then this afternoon it dropped for an hour and since then performance has been awful.
Estimated line speed:
There's no speed estimate currently held on your account.
Current line speed:
14.5 Mb
BTW Performance Test.

1. Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
Download Speed
1.59 Mbps

0 Mbps 3.02 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 1.59 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 40 Mbps-3.02 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 3.02 Mbps
2. Upstream Test:  -provides background information.
Upload Speed
0.59 Mbps

0 Mbps 20 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.59Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps
I've reported it via faults. The connection is a bit more stable now. Just very slow.

Re: Awful speeds, pings and frequently no service

First guess would be that you've had some impulse noise, crosstalk or other upstream line fault which has given you loads of disconnects. DLM's then kicked in as you've exceeded its threshold, hence the lower speeds. You may have to get PN to reset everything for your original speed to come back.
A few days after my fibre went active (80/20), their systems magically put me onto an ADSL2+ speed profile -- imagine my surprise! Cheesy

Thanks.  I'll wait for the staff to wake up  Smiley
A drop overnight between 3:02 - 3:54 improved the situation slightly.  But not by much.
At least I can get some work done now.

Re: Awful speeds, pings and frequently no service

BT have come out and found a short in the cable 350m away. Just waiting on the wife to reset the BT modem.  But the wholesale checker shows IP Profile for your line is - 67.69 Mbps
I think I might be the lucky one to have good service from BT round here Smiley
