For anyone experiencing these issues and struggling to get a resolution I thought I would share my experience. I have had an ongoing issue for over a year now. I have seen countless Openreach engineers and have spent hours talking to Plusnet. It has been a very long and painful process to the point of getting the ombudsman service involved. If you are having these issues Openreach might eventually suggest it’s a “rein issue” yet they do not manage to find a cause. Personally, I was seeing most of my disconnects during the early evening or early hours of the morning which confused matters even more.
There are clearly some issues with the Plusnet Hub One router, I have got two of them and both display this random disconnect behaviour. Replace them for something else and I suspect you will find your issues will be resolved.

That's work in progress at the minute. I have a Cisco 887 which I have used to prove the issue is with the Plusnet hub and have had a stable connection for weeks. Not a long term solution really due to the size of it. I am looking at the ZyXEL Vmg8924-b10a at the minute. Interestingly I spoke to one of our local Openreach engineers and he was saying he has seen a lot of these issues particularly on a long line, which I have.

I will probably try another router if this can’t be resolved by another visit. I don’t really want to spend too much though in case it doesn’t do the job, so was thinking of looking into a BT hub 6 via eBay, new around £25. Or can you recommend something else that’s not going to break the bank?

Hi @Prawnyloks
I've just responded on your other thread, but wanted to pop something on here too.
Looking at your connection, your fault history and drawing on my own experience, I'd say that it is incredibly unlikely that this is a REIN issue - for one, REIN issues don't tend to exhibit any physical fault error messages (Like the copper joint issue noted on your previous fault).
Trying another router certainly won't do any harm, if you want to rule out the Hub One, however, I do feel that the issue is a physical one at this stage, rather than a device issue.
Best wishes
Dave

I could be wrong but I believe the BT hub 6 has is pretty much the same as the Plusnet router but I have no experience of them to truly comment

Thought I would throw this cheap and simple idea in in case it may help:
In the pursuance of reducing susceptibility to REIN I decided the 1 meter RJ11 xDSL connection cable should be eliminated, being as with most, just a straight 4 wire cable and it behaves more like an antenna than transmission line.
Equipment used: Huawei HG612 in bridge modem mode & Draytek Vigor 2860AC router. The Huawei HG612 consistently attains a better sync both up and down compared to the Draytek/Lantiq modem, so the Draytek internal modem is reserved as a backup should the Huawei decide to quit.
So I stripped a length of CAT 5 cable and separated out one pair cut it to ~300mm and sleeved it with 4mm PVC sleeving and crimped a 6P6C connector to each end.
On rebooting the MAX downstream attainable increased by ~1800 Kbs and the SNRM improved by 0.5dB.
My line to cabinet length is ~380 meters and the modem syncs at 80/20, the MAX downstream attainable now shows as ~ 84100 Kbs
So, for those looking to improve their downstream sync rate the twisted pair cable described may just make a significant improvement.
N.B. I have not tested the Draytek integral modem with this cable as it would require moving the router much closer to the BTOR NTE and that would be to much hassle.

You are certainly correct regarding using the right cable.
I went to vdsl2 last year and the existing adsl cable extension, 15m did not work.
I replaced it with CW1308 cable, and in tests using the PN Hub1 located at the Filter box, and then at the office, no increase in SNR (3db) or attenuation.
I then replaced in the office the PN Hub1 with my Vigor2860 , no change in figures, but far faster synchronisation times. (the PN1 HUB1 is painfully slow in syncing)
I use the default BT modem codes on the Vigor, manually setting seemed to give no improvement.
I also switched off the hardware acceleration, which improved throughput.
My cabinet is a HuaWei.
A friend of mine had an REIN issue on adsl, apparently caused by a dodgy AC to DC power supply which affected properties further up the street, the SNR improved once this was found by the OR REIN team with the specialist detector, a tranny radio!!

I ended up swapping the Plusnet router for a Zyxel VMG8924-B10A. My line has been very stable since doing so with about a 30% increase in speed too.
