Anyone Else Got Problems in the Leicester (LE6) area?

Suddenly getting lots of drop-outs and line speed 0 when it stays up long enough for a test to complete - is between 1 and 27 Mbps with upload always < 1.

This is on a Fibre Extra connection that was working fine this morning.

Have rebooted router to no avail.

Neighbour - who isn't on Plusnet - has no problems so that rules out some options.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Hello @Red_devil, 

I'm sorry to hear you're having connection issues.  Can you run through our troubleshooting guides here .If that doesn't help, the next thing would be to rule your internal wiring out by plugging the connection into your test socket (which is under the faceplate of your master socket) and seeing if the drops stop.  This rules out your internal wiring, face plates and extension sockets as being the cause of these drops.

How to locate the test socket and set your connection into it can be found here. 

If the problem still persists, please can you raise a fault here  and let us know once this has been done?

Everything was working fine and nothing has changed this end so very unlikely to be internal wiring etc.

It recovered to be OK for a while - especially in the evening - but has been on and off today.

It's working fine at the moment (58Mbps) so who knows?

Just a quick update to say problem has resurfaced with regular line drops as well.

When it's up it is now never faster than 38 download (usually around 21) and has yet to exceed 1 (usually 0.7) upload.

Video conferencing is particularly difficult as the upload speed means people struggle to see/hear us.

I reinstated the Plusnet hub one in case my router of choice (Billion 8800NL) was having problems but no improvement (slightly worse if anything).

Routerstats 5A shows that the max data rate has increased from c 40 to nearly 70 this morning but this is not reflected in the speeds attained. It's almost as if I've been moved from fibre extra down to ordinary fibre.

Have raised a fault ticket (Friday) but no response as yet.

At the risk of hogging my own thread can someone tell me what sort of response time I can expect for this fault?

My OH is trying to work from home (for obvious reasons) but the lousy upstream rate is making this nigh on impossible.

Being in a vulnerable group myself the last thing I want is for her to have to go into the office but she is being pressurised to do that due to lack of viability of homeworking with this problem.

The roter stats give no clue as show maximum data rate 25475 / 70190 (great) but data rate 723/38171 (no good)

I kind of expected to have heard something from the fault team by now....
