Another Speed Query

Hi guys,
sorry, yet another broadband speed enquiry!
My broadband speed has been significantly slower recently. It used to be 1.5MB/s download, but now it's stuck at 1.03MB/s and has been for a few weeks. Any ideas why?
Best wishes,
Daniel

Re: Another Speed Query

Nothing untoward there so I must assume that the problem is with the wireless connection
However you have posted in the ADSL section but the result from the BT test would tend to suggest that you are on the 40/10 fibre product

Re: Another Speed Query

Hi,
wireless connection? It's exactly the same computer that's its always been. It seems that my 'max' speed has gone down. It definitely used to be over 10mb, 13 was the original speed when I got Fibre over a year ago, and then it went up some more. Maybe that helps?
Thanks,
Dan

Re: Another Speed Query

I just realised that you quoted the speeds in MB/s  Embarrassed in the opening posts
Those speeds are fine for the IP profile so it is fairly certain that your line has been affected by cross talk which has reduced the connection speed

Re: Another Speed Query

Hi,
ah yes, I did, sorry. Is there anything that can be done about this then? It's definitely slower than it was over a year ago when I first got Fibre.
Best and thanks,
Dan

Re: Another Speed Query

very doubtful in the short term
If you want a bit of hope read up about G.INP, GFast and Vectoring although the latter one probably won't happen

Re: Another Speed Query

Hi,
just reading about G.INP :
http://www.increasebroadbandspeed.co.uk/g.inp
how it is fair / right that I pay the same amount for my broadband, but the speed has decreased because of further fibre uptake in my area? This seems rather dodgy as I have never been informed my speed has been reduced. Also this article seems to say I need a particular modem to utilise G.INP, can I get one for free from PlusNet?
With regards to GFast I think I am far too far from the cabinet (~1 mile I think) for this to be relevant?
Best and thanks,
Daniel

Re: Another Speed Query

Unfortunately Crosstalk is part and parcel of how Fibre to the Cabinet works I'm afraid.
There isn't anything we can do I'm afraid.

Re: Another Speed Query

Hi,
so even though I'm paying the same as a year ago, I have to accept 1/3 less speed? How is that fair from a consumer rights perspective?!?
Best,
Dan

Re: Another Speed Query

which equates to me having to wait 50% longer for things to download!!
