Hi guys, maybe someone in the know can answer this one,my sister who lives in Edinburgh has been with virgin media for her BB for years.
Now she wants to move to BT,but she read somewhere that she has to inform virgin that she wants to move,is that correct.
I thought she would just phone BT & tell them she wants to move to one of their packages, all help appreciated.
Fixed! Go to the fix.

Previously, I was with Virgin Media but moved to uncabled area.
They told me it's not possible to install cable so they terminated my contract (with a discount though), and I moved the new property over to Plusnet
Now I believe it's different as BT will contact Virgin to tell them you're moving ISP, but you should contact Virgin to give them the 30 day notice and to inform them incase BT does a mix up.

Do not cancel with Virgin Media... You could lose your telephone number if you do that. If you are wanting to switch your line to BT let BT handle the cancellation of your telephone line and port your number to them. If you have BB and TV with Virgin you will however need to cancel these with them.
Just as I expected
I didn't keep my Virgin number either. I don't think it's possible though? You could ask VM for a mac code?

I believe BT will contact Virgin on your behalf but I would contact them anyway just to ensure everything is going to plan for reassurance.
