I upgraded to 80/20 from 40/10 on the 19 th December on recommendation from customer services to save on monthly charges.
prior to the upgrade I have been on a pretty constant 32 to 34 Mbs download which was satisfactory, upload is not my main concern but it was around 6.0Mbs to 6.5Mbs.
However since the upgrade the line speed has actually dropped to 29 Mbs download and the upload has increased to 7.2 Mbs, I can not see the point in having the extra fibre plus service to actually slow my download.

Assuming that there was nothing wrong with your connection when you were on 40/10 and looking at what you were getting then, the advice to go to 80/20 was wrong. I would expect 38+/9+ before upgrading.

Thanks for your reply daveplus. It makes sense, in retrospect I think it was the wrong advice and would be better off back on the 40/10 line

Sorry to hear your speeds aren't as expected.
Your line is capable of up to 53mbps according to our suppliers estimates as shown below
VDSL Range A (Clean) | 53.5 | 35.8 | 10.1 | 6.5 | 34 | Available | Available | -- |
Our tests aren't showing any cause for the drop in speeds so if you want us to investigate further we'll need you to raise a fault here
If you can let us know when you've done this we'll get this picked up for you

Thank you for your intervention Matthew,
the fix applied on the 28th has increased my download speed a little now 35 Mbs down & 7Mbs up. However the engineer suggested I may gain a little extra speed by using a new router with the newer chipse, as the one I am using is approx 6yrs old.
I did request this and customer service left a phone message that they would send one if I would pay the postage, I replied by text that I would, but I have not had any reply or confirmation since.

I forgot to mention that when the engineer did the reset at the cabinet I achieved pings in the single figures ( fantastic ), however as you can see in the speed test that the ping has crept back to 80.

Thanks for getting back to us.
I've ordered you the new router and we'll get that to you as soon as possible.
With regards to the ping times DLM has added interleaving to your line due to the errors on it which is why your ping times have increased.
I'd recommend seeing how you get on once you've received the new router.

Hello Matthew, here are the speedtest results with the new router, the actual download speed has dropped again however the ping is a little shorter. I wll let this run for ten days to see what happens, however I am unable to read any stats on this router so may have to replace with old router after test period.

Hello Matthew, I Have now had the new router running since the 8th of February, and the results are as follows the ping has settled at around 40 ms
downloads at 29Mbs and uploads 6.60Mbs.
A little disappointing.
