4db SNR drop after two weeks - is this normal

I'm currently using a fritz 7490 (the BT Openreach engineer didn't leave a BT modem, and PN tell me I need to arrange another visit from BTO to get an official modem but that means arranging another day off work).
Based on the frtiz stat.s page, after initial installation the attenuation was 13db, and SNR hovered around 9/10db. Sync speed was 79995 with a potential of around 88000.
Two weeks after installation, the line resynced capped at 40mb, then almost immediately resynced again at 80mb but this time with an SNR of 6. Attenuation remained at 13.
Currently, I'm typically synced at 76-78mb, with SNR of 6.
Is this normal due to cross talk (I would have only been the second connection on the cabinet when first installed), or is something amiss. (I realise that the drop might be too small to be regarded as a fault).
thanks,
Matthew
P.S. Fritz.box reports the DSLAM as being broadcom.
