40/20 Retention query

I am following this post with interest because my 2 year 40/20 fibre broadband-only retention deal comes to an end later this year.

https://community.plus.net/t5/Fibre-Broadband/Further-Clarification-Please-40-20-to-40-2/td-p/133423...

I am also finally in a position to bring over my line rental from BT, but after reading the posts by MattyC, it looks like I will not be able to retain 40/20 service if I add line rental?

Only package options would be 40/2 or more expensive 80/20 services, with line rental.

My BT IP profile is 59 mbps, so I should be eligible to receive Unlimited Fibre Extra.

Re: 40/20 Retention query

My opinion on this is that you would not be changing your broadband package, just adding the phone (line rental) service, definitely worth a call to Plusnet and specifically asking that your broadband service remain 'exactly as-is'.

It wouldn't be very sensible to 'punish' any customer wanting to purchase additional services.  For what it's worth, I added PN TV package to my existing 40/20 (including re-contracting for a discount) and retained the 40/20 service.

Re: 40/20 Retention query

Just wondering if you got an answer @bill888 ?

I am in a similar position, and got a call from PN today, and when they mentioned an upload speed of 1.9, I pointed out I had been on 40 20 since I joined PN. He seemed to think they never offered this speed, and they had only ever done 38 1.9.

Its looking like I will have to move, which I don't really want to, I have been happy enough with the service, and this community has been great.

Re: 40/20 Retention query

Most customers who signed up to the legacy 40/20 product prior to May/June 2015, were migrated to 55/10 (52/9.5 mbps) product from 1st August 2016.  I think some customers were put onto 40/10 if they had slower lines.

Unless the policy has suddenly changed, Plusnet will permit those customers to stay on same product if they recontract.

If you are accidentally moved to the 40/2 (38/1.9) service shortly after recontracting, it can be changed back to the previous service. Plusnet rep @HarryB came to my aid and others in September/October following a number of cases reported in the Fibre Broadband section of this forum.

(I also successfully moved my line rental to Plusnet)

Re: 40/20 Retention query

@Mustrum - There's not much I can say further than what @bill888 has advised.

I have however checked your account and it looks like you're still provisioned to get the 55/10 service that we moved 40/20 customers on to.

Re: 40/20 Retention query

, @HarryB thanks for the update, I realise my account had missed the changes, but a move to 1.9 upload would not be good!
