Following the recently enhanced superfast 55/10 product, we’re introducing a new 18/2 FTTC product on a trial basis. It’ll initially be available at around 3,000 PCPs and will help CPs transition their customers from copper to fibre. The new 18/2 product won’t change the way you serve our customers and - under the terms of the trial - multiple self-install jobs will be organised at the same PCP for you and allocated normally.
You should always check the expected speed during an 18/2 order install. A result of 18Mbit/s during the VDSL close-out tests may now be valid and isn’t necessarily a slow speed fault. We’re expecting our first 18/2 orders from CPs this week.

Apart from Sky, is any other major ISP planning to offer 18/2 FTTC ?

Not a strictly accurate description as the punters referred to will still be on copper - why don't they just be forthright and say 'from ADSLx to VDSLx' ?
N.B. I haven't looked at the thread referred to on Kitz forum to see if that point has been raised.

I suppose it's inevitable that something like this will become the new baseline broadband service.

At the moment I believe there are certain eligibility criteria. You need to be in one of the trial areas and have a sub 3mbps ADSL speed. estimate.

Bob,
Is there a link for the trial areas ?
My wife's parents are with Plusnet and get truly shocking ADSL performance. This is due to being on a long copper connection to the exchange (in a London suburb).
They are very light users (on the legacy 10GB/month package) and actually don't seem to mind the speed and certainly wouldn't want to pay more but if it were possible to extract a few Mb/s out of the current set up I could probably tempt them and visitors would be much happier !

Luzern,
Many thanks.
After a bit of investigation their exchange doesn't have any cabinets listed.

I notice 18/2 fttc availability info is now displayed in the BT DSL checker
https://www.dslchecker.bt.com/
The criteria for availability was raised from ❤️ mbps to <10 mbps.
For my line, I see:
I used to only get 6mb ADSL before upgrading to fibre several years ago.
