rDNS - static ip to anything but my username

Hi,

Would it be possible to NOT use my username as my rDNS for a static ip?  My username is my real name, so it give me the privacy heebie-jeebies when browsing.  No reverse lookup is required

Thanks!
Paul

Re: rDNS - do not use my username

@pauldore you can request its changed to either:-

<your-ip-address>.plus.com

if you have your own domain, then anything for which you create an A record on your domain pointing to the static IP

A staff member will pick this thread up and request the info from you

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: rDNS - do not use my username

thanks MisterW - super useful, I wondered what they meant in other posts about pointing to the IP.

Yeh my IP would be perfect.  I have domains but, nothing I'd want to point to my home broadband.  It's really just so I can not keep changing the firewall to a database server all the time without connecting to a vpn.

Re: rDNS - do not use my username

Staff presence on the forum seems a bit light at the moment but I'm sure someone will pick this up shortly...

Re: rDNS - do not use my username

I’d like to do the same if any of the admins pick this up please. I already have a hostname set as an A record in DNS
