ccgi server clock wrong (for the 5th time)

Server ccgi03.plus.net is out by one hour.
The output from here gives :
I am running on: ccgi01.plus.net
Sat Apr 18 09:00:32 UTC 2009
Sat Apr 18 09:00:32 UTC 2009
Sat Apr 18 08:00:33 UTC 2009
Sat Apr 18 09:00:33 UTC 2009
sh: line 1: ssh: command not found
sh: line 1: ssh: command not found
This may affect your tracker stats (as it is mine).
I have raised a ticket - if this affects you, please also raise one.

Re: ccgi server clock wrong

They corrected the server at about 11am so all is now well.

Re: ccgi server clock wrong

The reply to my ticket arrived at 16:45 - about 4 hours ago. It said:
Quote
Thank you for letting us know. Another customer reported this issue to us earlier today and it has been raised with our networks team to correct

I happen to know a little bit about computers and if the 'networks team' take more than 5 minutes to change the clock on a computer, they are in need of retraining. Even if it a problem with the daylight savings, it should not be difficult.
True, it could be a matter of remote access...
I can only assume that the 'raised with our networks team' was just a stock reply and that the 'networks team' do not work at weekends.

Re: ccgi server clock wrong

24 hours later and trackers are still being messed up.
Obviously the conclusion about the network team not working weekends was correct - it won't be fixed until Monday.

Re: ccgi server clock wrong

One and a half days and counting waiting for the time to be put right on a server. I'd be stunned if this wasn't something that couldn't have been remotely corrected on 5 minutes by whoever was on call from networks from their home.
I suspect underhand tricks here - having apparently decided that cgi services will be changed extra if users want to go on to properly supported servers (PAYH) - they are now going to let problems run on the ccgi servers as a way of adding pressure on people to move.

Unlikely Jelv.  Quite impressive by your usual standard of conspiracy theories though Smiley
I'll see where the ticket is and if we can get someone to change it.

Re: ccgi server clock wrong

But it succeeded didn't it!
[quote=http://ccgi.csogilvie.plus.com/dates.php]I am running on: ccgi03.plus.net

Mon Apr 27 09:26:07 UTC 2009

The question is why it took such a post on here to get somebody to do something? Having the time wrong on one of the servers will have been causing confusion for anyone running forums with many post times being incorrect.

Re: ccgi server clock wrong

Fortunately I suspect it's a minor issue and was raised to Networks as a ticket, so is handled in turn.
I've asked the line manager up there to have a look.

Re: ccgi server clock wrong

I know why that server was an hour late and not being put right.
That is the server used for the staff clocking in. and the other 3 are used for clocking out  Grin Cheesy Grin

Re: ccgi server clock wrong

Can anyone confirm that ccgi03 is now displaying the correct times?

Re: ccgi server clock wrong

Looking at the minor variation in the minutes could I suggest that Plusnet investigate the use of an innovative new facility called ntp!
Here is one you could consider using: ntp.plus.net

Re: ccgi server clock wrong

I seem to recall a similar problem being raised about 18 months back and the resolution then being to get the NTP system reviewed and amended.   Things seem to have slipped backwards on some of the new installs?

Re: ccgi server clock wrong

I've just been looking around the same area.
A re-read of http://usergroup.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,3798.0.html is very illuminating.
